15 Hour Exam
Throughout my unit, I have been studying the topic of Journey. In this, I have taken photographs of landscapes in both rural and urban locations and also looked at cultures of people in these locations. In these shoots I go on a journey to different locations, so that in my work there is a variety of different settings, weather and iconic buildings that signify a place. Taking this on board, for my 15 hour exam, I decided to experiment with my style of photography in aim for it to look like the work of Titarenko. This will enable me to mix up a range of different styles of my photography, while being able to still intertwine the people aspect with the culture of the place I am visiting. Titarenko's work involves him placing his camera in certain busy areas and leaving the shutter speed on for a long duration of time. This allows the backdrop to stay clear, while the people that walk past the lens are shown to be blurred out. I experimented with this, and instead of placing all of my images in Black and White, I decided to make them vibrant and give them a modern twist. I will also be looking at different ways I can give the idea of movement a twist and the element of blurring in my straight images. In my shoots, I decided to take images on the different modes of transport to conform to the Journey topic, and then when I arrived in both Cambridge and London - I took many photos to show isolation, where only one person was in a location, and the blurring effect of movement in busy streets and bustling locations.
